I know it's typical of bewildered newbies to imagine whatever it
is is more complex than it really is, and I appreciate your offer
of assistance.

Let me suggest this: Don't assist me personally (I'm not going to
change the present remailer anyway - 15 pingers, a 5-year
record!, are actually pinging it and I don't want to antagonize
them by any more name changes); instead, if you feel like it, put
into simple language, as a series of steps, whatever is needed to
get the average guy into business, and I and others can ask the
questions to clear up whatever is confusing. If I can undestand it
well-enough, I can add it to the average guy instructions.

A few things that come to mind that might need explaining in
simple terms:

Is this 'local MTA' built-in to the mixmaster remailer? Is
that why I have one?

If the user has a domain at 1and1.com, how does he get messages
addressed to remailer at my1and.com to be seen by his local MTA?

Is it by re-directing the MX records at my1and1.com? Exactly where
do they get re-directed to? Is it to myrem12345 at yi.org that points
to his ip?

(How to redirect them is another question. I have found it pretty
easy to do, given the instructions at 1and1, but that would have
to be included in any writeup. I'm assuming the user has a static
ip).

Does the user have to do something with an 'A' record? What?

A domain at 1and1 includes, I think, some 'nx1' and 'nx2' records.
Does he have to do anything with them? What?

Is there any way to get messages to the local MTA without
re-directing the MX and A and nx? records?

Assure the user that he does not have to run a dns server.
