Hello All,

First, I am quite curious if anyone else has had the spate of viruses
over
the last several days as I have encountered. Within the past 3 days, the
re-mailer has "quarantined" over 150 messages mostly containing the worms
VB.6.AB and a couple of others. This is far above what I normally see and
am somewhat concerned that it may be false identification. I am using
Grisoft AVG 7.1 (the commercial version). As of the past 10 hours, it has
  quarantined 21 messages containing: VB.6.AB, Mydoom.0, Generic.FX.

Another interesting note regarding PGP fail to decrypts. I accidentally
discovered that if I reboot the mailer for an OS upgrade, or any other
reason, if I follow this sequence of starting PGP, I have far fewer PGP
  fail to decrypts.

First, nothing regarding the mailer is automatically started. It is
presently operating out of a Bestcrypt container. I am using PGP 6.58ckt.
If I manually start the PGP tray, exit and restart it, then bring up
Mercury followed by Reliable, the number of PGP fail to decrypts drops to
near zero. In the past, I have had my own "dummy" traffic fail to decrypt
on several occasions. By starting the tray, stopping it, then restarting,
this seems to have eliminated the problem. Over the past 2 weeks, I have
only had 3 messages hit the trash, all three were malformed mix messages.

Just on a secondary note, I am intending to move the entire mailer to a
totally encrypted drive. I have purchased DriveCrypt Plus and intend to
move the mailer to a fully encrypted drive. Hopefully over the next
several days. I expect that the mailer will experience some lengthy
delays
during this changeover. The mailer backup service should kick in when I
stop Mercury so hopefully, no mail will be lost. But, I do switch between
the mailer and main PC via a USB KVM switch. I am not sure how well that
will coexist with DriveCrypt. I do use Casper XP to backup the mailer to
an outboard USB drive. In my first attempt at installing DriveCrypt I
must
have made an error. I was able to recover fully by simply switching hard
drives. For those running XP, Casper is absolutely the best. I tried
Norton Ghost, but it was just a clumsy mess to work with. It sits useless
in a box on my shelf. Needless to say, I cannot speak highly enough about
the Casper software. I also use it on my main PC. The main PC has 2
internal drives. They are configured for wire select. I can select the
boot disk from setup. I have tried switching boot disks a number of
times.
The Casper copy is always perfect. If any XP users wish to try it, I can
send you a copy. If you like it, buy it please. The support is worth it.
They are constantly improving it. Just send me a private E-mail. I have
no
affiliations with Casper, I just think they have a superb product and
want
to see them stay in business.

Sorry, I have not been around much at all. Another year of major
contracts, great, but absolutely no spare time for much at all. No
vacations for the last 7 or 8 years and it does not look like this year
  will be the "one" :(
